Summary:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the key forces shaping the digital economy today. Yet, countries are not equally ready to capture and maximise AI’s vast potential, leaving economic value on the table. The Oxford Government AI readiness Index measures the capacity of national governments to harness the full potential of AI in their delivery of public services and operations. Google Trends is utilised to approximate the general awareness and interest of AI-related topics amongst the general public. This week’s chart shows the relationship between a government’s AI readiness and their citizens’ awareness of AI and related topics.
Highlights:
- Singapore ranks as the most AI-ready government, and was the top region globally that was most interested in related fields such as ‘deep learning’ and ‘data science’ according to Google Trends.
- China, India and Japan, ranks amongst the most AI-ready governments in the world with strong AI policies and strategies.
- Potential opportunities to introduce AI-literacy initiatives to the workforce in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar & Vietnam (CLMV) as their populations have lower levels of general awareness in AI topics.
